Laboratories of E-Mobility and Drives
We have several well-equipped research laboratories.
The Drives Control Laboratory consists of five identical drive systems controlled by mixed RISC/DSP digital controllers (dSPACE DS1103 PPC) featuring four-quadrant operation capability. Each of the five systems uses an Induction Motor (IM) and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM), both machines being able to work either in motoring or generating mode.
The Drives Test Laboratory is dedicated to research and teaching activities in the field of electrical machines and their control. It supports (but not limited to) electrical machine parameter characterization, static and dynamic performance test, implementation, test and validation of advanced control technologies for different types of electrical machines.
The Drives Traction Laboratory is used for fabrication and test of relative large drives, electrical machines and volume-wise bigger systems and has the infrastructure to handle traction drives for (H)EV.
The Battery Systems Test Lab is a state-of-the art laboratory for electrical, thermal, and lifetime testing and characterization of batteries. The laboratory allows investigating battery cells and battery packs under variable electrical and thermal stress conditions in a secure environment using world class devices.
