Teacher of the Year
The Teacher of the Year is announced every year at graduation in June, where the vice-chairman (student representative) of the Study Board of Build, Energy, Electronics and Mechanics in Esbjerg presents the Teacher of the Year award.
What is Teacher of the Year?
Each semester/specialisation under the Study Board of Build, Energy, Electronics and Mechanics in Esbjerg finds a candidate for "Teacher of the Year" respectively for the autumn and spring semesters. The student representatives for the respective semesters take the initiative to find a candidate and make a written recommendation. The deadline for nominations for the autumn semester is 1 December, and the deadline for nominations for the spring semester is 15 May. The nominations are sent to the study secretary.
Among the proposals received, the study board's student representatives choose one candidate from each autumn and spring semesters. The study board's student representatives nominate one of the two candidates for "Teacher of the Year at the Study Board of Build, Energy, Electronics and Mechanics in Esbjerg", and this is approved by the study board no later than the end of June.
Teacher of the Year is honored at graduation in June
The two nominated candidates will be issued a diploma and a small token of appreciation and will be honored by the Study Board of Build, Energy, Electronics and Mechanics in Esbjerg and the Department of Energy at the annual graduation party in June. The candidate, nominated by the Study Board of Build, Energy, Electronics and Mechanics in Esbjerg, receives an amount of DKK 25,000 as a tax-free honorarium.

Teacher of the Year at the Faculty and AAU
"Teacher of the Year at the Study Board of Build, Energy, Electronics and Mechanics in Esbjerg" is also a candidate for the title: "Teacher of the Year at the Faculty of Engineering and Science".
The announcement and presentation of the award as "Teacher of the Year at the Faculty of Engineering and Science" takes place at the Faculty's joint event for graduates at the winter exam in February. The name of the recipient is confidential until the month of February.
The faculty office convenes the vice-chairman of the study boards in October to prepare a recommendation to the dean about which of the study boards' candidates should be "Lecturer of the Year at the Faculty of Engineering and Science".
The recipient of the title as "Teacher of the Year at the Faculty of Engineering and Science" is also the Faculty's candidate for the "Obelske Familiefonds Teaching Award", and the award is only announced during the Doctoral promotion ceremony at the University's annual celebration in April. The Strategic Education Council decides which of the candidates will receive the "Teaching Award of the Obel Family Foundation", and the nominee does not receive the DKK 25,000 for the title of "Teacher of the Year at the Faculty", but instead receives the main prize of DKK 50,000. The other nominees each receive DKK 25,000.
At the same time as the above selection, the Strategic Education Council decides which two of this year's teachers are to be nominated for the national teaching award at the Ministry of Education and Research. One man and one woman are nominated.
