Reliability of Power Electronic Components

We want to investigate new technologies and methods to make power-electronic components more and more reliable and efficient, to facilitate the green transition toward sustainable and renewable energy sources.​ But renewables are intrinsically intermittent sources, so converters are an enabling technology for producing green energy. Power electronic components contribute 30% - 50% of the overall conversion losses and seldom last more than 10 years without maintenance. We strive for implementing present- and future component technologies to make converters better and better and lasting up to 20 years and more. We are a part of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy missions at AAU Energy.
