SAFEr Grid: Store-And-Forward Energy Grid

As renewables replace fossil fuels, traditional 50 Hz power grids are reaching their limits, with blackouts already occurring. The ERC-funded SAFEr Grid project proposes an internet-inspired, asynchronous grid model that decouples sub-grids for independent operation, improving stability, resilience, and efficiency while supporting Europe’s energy transition and independence.
