- Gain a comprehensive understanding of energy markets, including pricing, market clearing mechanisms, and types of markets.
- Explore the challenges and opportunities of integrating renewable energy resources (RER) into energy markets.
- Examine global policies for integrating RERs and understand their impact on market operations.
- Learn strategies for demand-side management and the role of energy storage in supporting RER integration.
- Develop skills in using analytical tools and software for planning, decision-making, and optimization in energy markets.

The course counts for 1,5 ECTS credit. All students will receive a diploma stating participation in the course.

Remarks - workload:
In total about 42 hours (12 hours teaching, 6 hours practicing, 4 hours for preparations, 20 for doing the assignmentand finalizing a student report)

Evaluation form: The participants will be evaluated by exercises on a daily basis (both individually and in groups) and a mini-project on market practices at the end of the course.

Criteria for assessment: Participants will be assessed based on their daily individual and group exercises (50%), focusing on understanding, application, and collaboration. The remaining 50% will be based on a final mini-project. 

Selected articles, book chapters, presentations and software will be announced to the participants at the course site in PhD moodle.

Outside of AAU
If you are from outside Aalborg University and you wish to enroll in one of our PhD courses, you must create a profile. This is done by clicking on “create new account” and filling out the form in PhD Moodle.

Cancellation
Cancellations are accepted no later than 2 weeks before the start of the course. The Doctoral School has a no-show fee of DKK 3.000 for each course where the student does not show up.

Registered illness sent to the course organizer and the aauphd@aau.dk is of course an acceptable reason for not showing up on those days.

Diploma
All passed participants will receive a diploma as a PDF file.
The Doctoral School kindly ask for your patience, as it might take a while before you receive the final course diploma. This is due to the process of gathering evaluations.
