Vision and Goal of THE RESEARCH GROUP - Fluid Power Technology

The vision of the research group is to conduct research at the highest international level in the field of efficient, intelligent and reliable fluid power components, systems and control – with special focus on digital displacement and self-contained drive technology, and related to areas as wind turbines, wave energy, maritime and offshore applications, mobile and industrial hydraulics. The goal of the research groups is to be one of the three world leading research groups within these areas.
 

HOW THE RESEARCH GROUP - Fluid Power Technology - IS LINKED TO AAU ENERGY MISSIONS

Fluid Power Technology is linked to the following missions:

• Energy efficiency in components and systems

• Digital transformation and AI for smart and resilient energy systems

• Electrification, storage and integrated energy systems

One of the main focus areas of the research group is on developing new and highly efficient digital hydraulic components and systems, that will aid in a transition towards digital hydraulic solutions that will significantly increase the system efficiency of fluid power systems. Condition monitoring, fault detection and diagnostics and advanced control, which may also include AI approaches, are here integrated elements in ensuring the performance and reliable operation of the systems. Finally, energy storage and smoothening is a central element for e.g. wave energy converters, where fluid power technology is the heart of the power take-off systems.
